New Jersey Law Enforcment Youth Academy

NEW LEADERSHIP DELIVERING RESULTS FOR OUR COMMUNITY

A residential six day, five night program, held annually in July at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, New Jersey. The academy is broken down into four phases of participation. To become a graduate of the program, a participant must complete all phases. An explorer can only participate in one phase each year, therefore it is a four year commitment.

The academy is a "live-in" experience, complete with early morning physical training (PT), chow hall, and dormitory living. Designed to mimic an actual police academy experience; completion of this academy results a well-prepared recruit for a career in Law Enforcement.

Phase 1: An introduction to law enforcement in a classroom setting.

Phase 2: Hands-on experience with live action role play in graded scenarios.

Phase 3: Explorers act as on-duty police officers where they conduct patrols, are dispatched to calls, investigate crimes, and make arrests.

Phase 4: Job preparation curriculum focusing on résumé building, public speaking, and mock panel interviewing for police positions.
